I'm thinking of gigging with a different amp next year (2024).

Usually I gig with a Roland Cube of some type of which I actually prefer the small micro cube for very small gigs. It's surprisingly loud for a 5 watt amp and has got good headroom before the sound breaks up.

The bigger amp is a GX40 but is a bit bright for my liking.

My home amp, which I was supposed to gig with but is too heavy to lug around, is a Vox AC15c1 which sounds very sweet, nice and warm. It's a tube amp.

It has a Celestion G12M Greenback speaker which, apparently, is good for the low end.

I've been looking at a Princeton Reverb 65 with a 10" Jensen speaker but they cost just over €1500 which is more than I want to spend (or can afford without selling stuff).

I asked my local music store if they could get a 65 PR for me to try out but the answer was negative.

So I'm thinking of getting a Fender Blues Pro Jr which is a tube amp with a 10" Jensen and costs around €650.

I play solo fingerstyle guitar in a variety of styles. Light jazz, classical, Irish, pop, folk etc.

Which amp/speaker would you recommend for me (preferably a tube amp).

I am not sure about the AC15c1, but I know that my AC15 is unnecessarily heavy. In part, it has to do with the particle board cab. I have often thought of just re-cabing it (with a real wood cab) to make it more useful. Not sure how much weight that would reduce. I have never used it for loud-ish clean stuff, it did not seem to have the headroom, but it has been a number of years since I pulled it out to use. The headroom could be in part the speaker, weber alnico bluedog. I am not sure.

Yeah the AC15C1 is heavy enough. I used it for a wedding reception once and had it nearly up full volume the place was so loud.

I do a local market gig where I have to walk around 400m with my gear (backpack on back and amp and guitar in each hand) to where I play. Couldn't walk with the Vox unfortunately.

    Those 65 Princeton's though.....

Mesa boogie use Jensen 10”, but of course 4 of them. I have an 8C for which i built a tiny box. Sounds great. The Blues deluxe has been discussen in another thread, it’s got its quirks. I personally thought the Ramparte is a great option but where to get them and some people like to tame some noise in it depending on volume needs and your prefs there’s the Blues Junior and a few Laney options too.
