I had a look at the current Srm350
on the Mackie website
It says you can plug guitars
straight in ….
(1 Mohm would be about right)

I just tried it with my just-arrived Bose S1 Pro Plus. It sounded better straight into the Bose than it did through the ME80 (set for reverb and volume pedal only). I'll post a more complete review after I've used it in a few situations.

no offering from boss is ever the final answer. Even their expensive, firmware-upgradable gear options get abandoned after a short, 2 year life cycle it seems. There's been nothing on the market to make me want to jump ship from the helix stomp. I like the tonex and I think it sounds better but it's super limited compared to the helix. The UX stuff is better supported than boss and is a slight step up from helix in some ways, but their fender platform has too much gain for a clean jazz axe with heavy strings.

Has anybody got a hold of one of these Boss IR-2’s yet? If so thoughts? I envision it for a super lazy rehearsal set up where the host has a PA. But then again is it that hard to carry a 30lb tube amp with spring reverb? And I can’t see the IR-2 competing with that.

I think the Irridium and the Dream 65 will be coming down in price. I bought the UA Dream 65 in August. Then the Sweetwater price was around $550 Cdn, now it's about $440. And that's in 4 months. Boss pedals have always struck me as very average-not as low level as Donner pedals, but not as quality level as Universal Audio and others. Having said that though I wish my Dream 65 had an effects loop like the Boss.

I've been using one for the past year in my wedding band, going direct to PA. We're playing everything from pop, rock, funk, etc., and I use it like a two-channel amp - green light = clean, using the "Twin" model and red light = overdrive, using the "crunch" model. It took a couple of gigs to properly dial in the drive sound, and I learned that less was definitely more! The "Brit" model was too compressed and just got lost in the mix. I have a Fulldrive on my board to add a bit more gain for leads or volume with the clean boost. I play a Strat, so I have a BOSS CS-3 as an always-on pedal that just slightly grabs the note and adds a little bit of boost; it's not mega squashy.

Overall though, I'm really happy with it.
