So this is another beginner question that may annoy a certain member but? I have this guitar but don't know what the three way switch does, as my amp has not arrived to date. In the middle position, I gather both pick ups are on, and one way each are on as individual, am I right?

Can anyone also tell me anything else about the various dials and knobs that own or have owned this model please? Buying second hand it does not come with any manual. Thanks Guys Richard.

Three way switch: upward position= neck pickup; middle position=both pickups; downward osition=bridge pickup.

This isn't specific to your guitar, but explains what the knobs and switches are for most all 2 pickup/4 knob guitars and how they work. Nice and short, and to the point

One thing to be aware of is that with Gibson style wiring, which I think the JP has, if the volume control of one pickup is off, when the middle position is selected there will be no sound. I use this as a kill switch, keeping the bridge pickup volume at zero, and if I need to mute the guitar for awhile I can just flip the switch to the middle position, and it's silent, without needing to touch the volume of the neck pickup. It can be disconcerting to have no audio from the amp, with its volume well up and the neck pickup volume well up, and if it happens to you, either move the switch or make sure both volume controls are above zero. It doesn't take much increase, just get it off zero. But I keep mine at zero for a reason. I never use the bridge pickup, but others do.
