I'm thinking of getting an extension speaker to use with/under both my Henriksen Bud 6 and DVMark Little Jazz.
I'm considering a Raezer's Edge One 6 or New York 8, both Extended Range (i.e., including adjustable tweeter).
Any thoughts/comparisons/suggestions?
Thanks!

For gigs or for home?
How much does weight matter?
The raezers edge cabinets sound great with the bud (I have the RE stealth 10 extended range). The downside of these cabs is the weight. The 10 is about 32 lbs.
You may also try the open back raezers edge cabs. A friend of mine and I have one (we each have different speakers in ours). They’re great and quite light.

I use my RevSound RS8 under my Blu 6 (and under my LJ until I sold it). It’s an 11” cube that weighs about 10 pounds. The RS8 adds richness and 3 to 4 dB. That’s not dramatic, but it’s clearly audible both in clean headroom and maximum usable SPL. It’s a jazz half stack

David Luke has been building great lightweight speakers for years up in the woods of New Hampshire. He’s a great guy and a working bass player. Call and he answers - he’s very helpful & responsive. Don’t tell him, but that oval logo comes off easily.
Yes, a Toob 10 sounds as good - but you can’t stack a LJ on it.

It seems to me that it might be worth considering a powered speaker.
I can't speak to which will sound better.
But, the potential advantages to a powered speaker are:
1. Not much more weight because the electronics don't weigh much any more.
2. Some good powered speakers aren't all that expensive.
3. If you need more volume than a passive extension speaker, you've got it
4. If one breaks, you've still got the other.
5. You can add a mixer if the powered speaker doesn't have one (some have some capability) and run vocals through it.
I guess the main disadvantage would be if you prefer the sound of something else.

Thanks for the replies, but I'm really focused on one of the 2 RE models mentioned in my OP. Does anyone have any experience regarding those specific models that they can share? Thanks again!
Wait - What about a TC Electronic BC208 2x8" 200-watt/8 ohms/23 lbs/$239 Bass Cabinet?!Last edited by Tom Karol; 11-13-2023 at 10:16 AM. Reason: Addition

I think some of the questions posed above are still important to consider, especially when asking for input. Are you wanting "more sound;" a compact rig; or what? Are you playing in a big band; fighting with a keyboardist; or playing in your room? etc.

OK, fair enough. I have a Jazz Amp 112, a Bud 6, and a DVM LJ. The Jazz Amp 112 is the best amp I've ever owned - it's great for arch-top jazz, surprisingly good for rock/pop with the right pedals, and also fine for my needs for bass. I love it. I had a Jazz Amp 110 for a while as well, but I didn't like it nearly as much. But I'm going to be 75 next month, and lugging around a bulky 32 lb amp is becoming less appealing than it used to be. So, I find myself using my 2 little amps whenever I can get away with it. So, I thought if I sold the 112, I could get another speaker box to use with the small amps when necessary (though not often). I'd rather carry 2 20 lb boxes than 1 32 lb box. If I went the TC route, I could even get the BAM 200 head as well (only $179) and have a dedicated bass amp. But to tell you the truth, all this is just pure conjecture - I'll probably never sell the Jazz Amp 112, in which case I don't need an extension speaker cabinet at all!

If you want light and small boxes (tubes), take a look at a Toob. I have a RE cab, but it stays at home and I rarely bother to even connect it there. It's heavy, and it doesn't sound as good as the little Toob Metro BG. These days I don't even take the Little Jazz out, because the Toob and Superblock are smaller, lighter, and sound better. It won't get as loud, but plenty loud enough for my needs. The Little Jazz sounds good enough through the Toob, which weighs just over 4 pounds. The 10" Toob is bigger and heavier, of course, but still smaller and lighter than any RE cab.

Henriksen The Ray extention speaker? Made for the Bud. Anyone have any experience with it?

Might be great, but at $899? I don't think so!

The RS8 is the perfect size to sit under and support those two amps, and it’s both the best sounding and lightest traditional cabinet I’ve ever used. It also has feet on two adjacent sides. So you can set it down while holding the handle (which is big and comfortable). But you can also put it down with the handle to the side, with an unobstructed top surface on which to stand the Bud or LJ. The handle is big and comfortable to hold, but it’s high enough to high-center the Bud.

Stacking the cabinets wouldn't be mandatory for me, but yeah, if you absolutely have to do that then you need a bigger, heavier, possibly inferior sounding cabinet.

I've always wanted to try one with my Bud 6, maybe to split sideways. Haven't had the opportunity.

A lucky coincidence brought me a Raezers Edge NY6" cab last year , brand new and cheap. It has the extra tweeter built in with a control-pot (ER model) and when coupled with my BUD6 the volume seems to double. Great addition when playing with a larger/louder group and it doesn't change the sound, it just gets bigger and the low end comes through more - if you want that. The tiny size and weight also helps a great deal ....
