    Hey Jazzers,

Yesterday Thanks to my friend Karim, I've got the opportunity to see Bill Frisell in concert with his new trio. What a slap, what a master! I've enjoyed every moment.

Then, after the concert I went to my friend's home, and Karim lent me his Byrdland to try it quietly in my studio. What a guitar! So much responsive. Probably more than my L5CES. Never tried an archtop with such dynamics. I've done a demo, it's here:

Hope you'll enjoy this new one.

    Best and take care.

Sounds great! And lovely playing, as I always hear in your posts!

I've heard some people say that one problem with the Byrdland is the location of the bridge pickup--that it is too close to the neck pickup, that it gets in the way sometimes when picking, that there's not enough room in between.

You seemed no have no such problem. How was it? Did this issue ever present a problem for your comfort or picking technique?

Thanks for the video. Really, really nice!

Byrdland’s are great guitars. They sound better then they should.
They sound even better with Fred playing one.

I didn’t think Byrdlands could sound that good. Thank you for opening my ears.

    Dear all,

    Thanks for your comments.

@Flat: there is enough clearance for me between the table and the mics, and since I pick the strings between the 2 mics it's no issue at all.
@Pingu, fingerboard is 42 mm at the nut. That one is from 1983.

    Best and take care.

With the first three notes it is evident what a fabulous tone!

Great sound from the Byrdland! And great playing!

It looks like it has slightly larger sound holes than an L-5? The only reason I notice is they look exactly the same as the sound holes on my 1983 Epi Emperor F.

Wow, Fred, your were inspired. I so wish I could play jazz like you do. It seems effortless, and you never seem to run out of ideas, plus it is all so lyrical. And although the Byrdland is great, you make any guitar sound great. Big fan!
