My deal for an Ibanez PM20 fell through so the search continues.
Also had a deal for a nice modded Epiphone Broadway not work out.

There is a Burny ES 175 made in Japan from the 90's near me in VG condition. Not sure what a decent used price is.
They seem to be pretty well liked- even the newer Chinese versions.

Also see a Peerless Gigmaster that looks interesting, but some say the pickups are really dark??

Thanks as always for the informed info here.

I used a Japanese-made Ibanez "ES-175" for 20 years before getting a Gibson ES-175. They sound and play pretty similar.
I'd think a MIJ "ES-175" in excellent condition would be about $1200.

They seem to sell for half of that. Certainly worth more.

Peerless gigmaster is a nice guitar. Made in the same factory as the PM20. Think of them as brothers. Similar build quality and close in genre niche, with bridge pickup of course.

Also in the same category, the Epiphone Zephyr Regent reissue, if you can find one, is a really nice 175 built by Peerless with a fast narrower neck if you like that.

My bad, the lower prices must be for MIC versions. It's incredible how many Japanese makers/brands offered 175 copies. The may have churned out more than Gibson during the same time.

I have one of those and it's a very solid guitar, a delight to play. I put a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat in it and it really sings now. Anyone wanting a one-pickup ES175 type of guitar will love this, provided they find a nice one.

Guild Savoy X-150 may fit the bill. Not a Florentine cut but a competitor for the ES-175. I enjoy mine.
