Yamaha blond. I didn't see any information on this guitar posted and I have a video of him playing it. Does anybody know what model this is? It sounds quite nice and seems to have a signature on it near the tailpiece. I'm intrigued and thanks in advance.

He let me play it, briefly - I say briefly as I was too embarrassed to play with him standing next to me! Well-made guitar. He did say, though, that he was trying to get away from the typical jazz-guitar sound, and discussed that with Yamaha beforehand. I think it was new to him then, so it must have been 30 years or so ago.

There's a mint secondhand sunburst version for sale at F-Musiikki Vantaa, Finland. 1,300€ with case IIRC. No affiliation, just happened to visit the store yesterday. Tried it out briefly, noticed that for a laminated box it produced quite strong fret noise unamplified. I'd put on flatwounds, but that might be detrimental to the piezo sound. Due to piezo, the bridge is uncompensated. Sign of the times: among certainly well over 100 guitars, this was the only jazz box in the store, one of Scandinavia's largest.

haha reminds me of the time I went to see Howard Alden at the Tenor Clef, during the interval he sat at our table, and someone foolishly mentioned that I played the guitar, next thing I know he handed me his Benedetto and said ‘here have a go!’ Of course I couldn’t play a thing with him sitting next to me!

HA played my Jacques Favino briefly at the Brecon Jazz Festival in the 90s. I was busking with a friend on the Sunday morning and he happened to be buying an early morning coffee right by us.

To me these are simply decent guitars but nothing special at all.

Your photos, Dave? They are excellent.

Yes, at a solo gig in Cardiff many years ago. I think that it was also before it was signed by Chet.

Long time ago - I think it was the Hotel in the Bay?
