I attended a fun guitar oriented party on Sunday at a friend who lives in Connecticut. It was attended by musicians, a few luthiers (Kim Walker, Ken Parker and John Slobod to name a few) and enthusiasts like me. Here are a couple of the guitars that I sampled: a 1943 D’Angelico, 2021 Ken Parker, a 2003 Gilchrist and a older Maurice Dupont Petite Bouche.
Fun day!

Tell us more about the comparative sound of these guitars, please. I've played a bunch of lovely D'Angelicos and Parkers, and a wonderful-sounding Gilchrist, but never in a comparison setting.

They were all quite different as you can imagine. The ‘43 D’angelico was like others that I had played fat, (solid n chunky), the Gilchrist had more of the 30’s x-braced, Loar L5 thing going on which I really liked. The Parker was responsive, clear and sustaining. One of the better ones of his that I have sampled. Of those three, the Gilchrist was my favorite. That said, the Dupont had such power, weight and projection and impressed the hell out of me.
