PSA: D’Angelico Excel Series Style B Throwback

Hi All,

I have been eyeing these for a while as I was gassing for a jazz box with a floating mini humbucker. The $1999.99 price held me back. Walked into a GC in Cincinnati this morning and despite still being $2k online, they had one on the wall, new with case for $1,149.99. Asked the helpful clerk if it was a mistake and he said “no, stores were told to mark them down while online remains unchanged.” Added bonus, 48 months no interest.

Here is the clerk modeling with what is now mine.

Interesting how they’ve combined Excel and Style B into one model name.

Well, they used to. The D'Angelico website indicates this model which retailed for $1,699 has been discontinued.

I played on of these at the DA showroom, and fell in love with it. I achieved a really good George Benson type of tone with it.

It was not for sale there. And it's good that not every guitar that I fall in love with is NFS!

I did see a couple at GC awhile back, and seriously thought about them.
