Has anyone tried it? What was your experience?
I can’t try one locally, so soliciting impressions. I see folks have talked about this amp before on this forum, but not in an archtop context that I can find.

It's one of these very colored amps. The archtop characteristics may get a bit drown out by this amp. If I was looking for a tweed sound with an archtop, my preference would be simpler circuits like Victoria amps or an original tweed deluxe.

I like the sound of my 175 through a Mesa Rosette 2x8. Neck only, lower the pup volume, aids in the appreciation of the woody box. The California Tweed is very different amp though.

That amp wouldn't be my first choice, nor my tenth, but it's entirely a matter of taste. Different people like different tones, and I don't know what you like.
