Hoping to purchase my first hollow body guitar this weekend. I am interested in the JP Emperor, but read on Sweetwater site it has a "center block" for sustain. Is that true? If that is true then I'd purchase the Ibanez AF95.

Hi, I've got the Joe Pass Emperor II Pro and it has not a center block.
You can't go wrong whit it: I've got also an Epiphone ES175 Premium and an Eastman ar503ce, both wonderful guitars, but the Joe Pass whit the pickup coil-splitted is my "go to"guitar.

Thank you my friend! My local store has them in stock. I can now purchase with confidence!

You're lucky to be able to ascertain the lack of a center block just by tucking your cell phone through the F-hole and seeing what is shows. You're also lucky in that while the production of these models stopped years ago, the samples you can choose from have settled and you can do a scrutiny of the fretboard, fret ends, electronics etc. before dishing out the cash. The strings may be too oxidized to tell the truth about intonation, but a respectable vendor should either take care of a complete setup or offer an "as is" discount.

Don't worry about center block/no center block (or more likely, a sound post in this case). If you like the way it sounds and plays, then who cares what's inside (or isn't inside).
