I have a Loar LH 600 acoustic archtop. Anybody tried any of Thomastik BB series--BB12 / BB13 / BB14 Be-Bop --on their Loar LH 600 or 700 acoustic archtop? (Or another archtop?). If so, good acoustic sound? If so what gauge strings did you use?

If not Thomastik what other make did you use and gauge of strings?

    Many thanks.?

You must get Bebop 13’s to get a wound 3rd. 12’s have a brass unwound 3rd. You want a wound 3rd on a archtop.

I play the bb 14 on my acoustic archtop-best sounding strings to me.
on my electric Archtops I use the bb13.

Not only that but the plain G in the 12 set is disproportionately huge- too stiff, too loud. I think it is an odd misstep by TI, to be honest, and has always puzzled me. 1-2 gauges lower and it'd be better IMHO, but wound and it'd be a truly great set of strings.

I like Martin Retro Monels on my 17" archtop, which sounds great both electrically and acoustically; and SIT 11-50s on my GB10, Teles and Strat.

Like many others here, I love TI strings. I use BeBop 13s on my acoustic archtops. I use BeBop 12s on my electric archtops. I buy single wound TI G strings separately and change out the unwound G in the set of 12s. I agree. That unwound G in the set of 12s feels extremely stiff.

I uses bebops on my Loar lh600 for a while. To me they sound acoustically much like any other round wound strings. A little fragile though for robust rhythm playing, so now I used d’addario nickel bronzes instead.

esp with a trad bridge. The b*st*rd thing will not intonate with a plain 3rd.

I have Thomastik Swings .012 on my Höfner acoustic archtop. I tried a lot of different strings and these sound best by far. The Bebops sound like any other roundwounds IMHO.

The Swings come with a wound G in any gauge.
