I know there are some great luthiers making great copies of early L5s but was wondering if anyone is making the first iteration of the Super 400? the one with the smaller upper bout.
I think those are really beautiful looking guitars. Not that I can afford to buy one but just wanted to know if that person was out there.

In 2000, Eiichi Sumi made a lovely version of Alvino Rey's 1935 Super 400. It's essentially as new, and for sale at Eric Schoenberg's shop in Tiburon, CA. with a very reasonable ask of $6,500. Carved red spruce top, carved maple back. Lovely guitar with a wide neck.

Mark Campellone would be your luthier for a Gibson Style Archtop!

I did pick up one of his older 18 inch guitars on the used market.

Frans Elferink is another excellent luthier who is reasonable as well!

That is so cool to see a replica in natural.
