I'm looking for a nice ebony saddle (not the bridge base, just the saddle) for my vintage Gibson Johnny Smith - the usual suspects don't seem to be able to do that anymore after I've contacted them and I'm not interested in the ones sold by AllParts, Stewmac etc. Does anyone know who can carve one for me? Thanks in advance!

Our own Deacon Mark can make a very nice one if he's willing. He should be along or just pm him..

Yes contact me I can carve one with spacing for what you need. I need exact specs on post spacing. I know them and have an ABR1 but this could be different on JS.

I use continuous curve compensation just like Dangelico or many handmade archtops. Intonation is fine the intonation benefits of individual adjustment saddles is exaggerated.

I thought Sadowsky did. Bought one, actually. Not sure if he makes them anymore.

I bought an Ebony saddle from Deacon Mark for my sunburst L5 Wes Montgomery. Not only is it beautiful but it is extremely functional: intonation and radius are perfect and the sound is wonderful. It imparted a very nice woodiness to that guitar.

    Thanks again Mark!

+1, I ordered one from Deacon Mark for my L5 CES last month. The continuous curve compensation works beautifully with the wound G of the Thomastik-Infield, swing flatwounds I use (JS112).
I am in fact fixing to order one for my L4 CES as well.

    Thanks Mark!
