I love my micro cube! I can’t believe they don’t make it any more. :-(
I didn’t realize they weren’t being made. That explains not being able to find one a little while ago. I gave mine to my daughter and went looking for a replacement.
I ended up with the Spark Positive Grid. It sounds great, is very loud, and is well built. It has all the knobs you could need, with further customization for tone nerds on their app. It is not battery powered, however.
I don’t busk, so I’ve never actually needed batteries even in my micro cube. I do take it for jams, but there is always an outlet or power strip available.
It is definitely a step up from the micro cube, but I do miss that little guy.

Sorry to hear about that. I like my MicroCube--take it for practice with my buds. Fits in my convertible trunk easily.
I got mine well over a year ago and haven't had to change the 6 AA batteries yet! (I have a plug but never use it.)
My GF's BIL does some gigging in small venues and busking at the Farmer's Market and has a Boss Cube Street 2. It uses AA batteries. He likes it a lot.

OK, here's a review, but it's only like after 10 minutes with the Mooer.
First, it's alot like the Microcube, in sound. It has more low end tho, which I think is a good thing. I really only used 2 tones on the Microcube: the jazz tone that you gave us your settings for (which was Brit Combo), and then a rock sound using the Brit Stack model. And they sounded good. I think you could get an even better jazz tone out of the Mooer, due mostly to the additional low end. But to be honest, I'm not much a fan of the dirt sounds. The demos on YouTube should come with disclaimers, IDK how those people got the amp to sound like that, but this one does not sound like that. Still for $109 it's hard to beat. I do prefer my Spark Mini (it sounds much better than the Microcube or Mooer), but I'd probably keep my Microcube over the Mooer.
I can't directly compare it to Microcube right now because I can't find it!!! When I got the Spark Mini, I liked it better, and decided to sell the Microcube, so I boxed it up and stored it for the big sale I will be having soon... getting rid of alot of stuff. But now I can't find it! I was gonna offer to sell it to you, but I can't find the damned thing!
Oh- and as much as I love the Spark Mini, it really is more of a "solo" practice amp... it's not really loud enough to compete in a group jam I don't think. I'm sure the bigger Spark would. The Mooer also has enough volume.
But, keep in mind, I didn't spend a ton of time with it... for me these days, if I don't like something pretty instantly, it goes back. I'm not interested in spending alot of time tweaking trying to get a $109 practice amp to sound better. Especially when I already have one I like. I do think the Mooer is a good value for $109, for what it's capable of. But it's nothing like the Yamaha (or the Spark).
When I find that Microcube, I'll let you know- if you are still interested at that point. It's a white one. I can't believe I've lost it someplace in this house...

BTW, I agree with Tom that the little Fender might be your best option at this point, especially at it's price. Or the Roland Cube 10GX. I haven't played either, but both get good reviews. Neither take batteries. Both are cheaper than a Spark or a Yamaha.

I have one and a MicroCube. It's only a little heavier than the MicroCube and sounds MUCH better. It also can hang with a jazz group (I bring it to jam sessions), up to a point. But it's not battery operated, which I thought was a must-have for you.

Nice!! That certainly does look like an "upgraded" Microcube. But yeah- about the same price as the Yamaha. Or the Full-size Spark (link below). I guess all the good ones are in the $300 price range now...

I guess it's the price of portability these days. The Cube 10gx is about $120 less.

Yeah, that looks like the stereo version of the old cube. For jazz guitar I would actually also consider the bass version of the amp, Dual Cube Cass LX. For clean tones, especially with an archtop the bass version might sound even better.

I'm actually at a complete loss as to what I want to do. Paralysis of options.
With only a few weeks of school left, I suppose I don't need to decide now. I'll make it my father's day gift

That's actually very good, rushing on a purchase (even a cheap one) is never a good idea.
