Input gain into a multi effects pedal for humbuckers?

I just received a multi effects box and am following setup instructions.

Question: Setting up input gain for the pedal, does a humbucker equipped archtop typically require a lot of gain into pedals? In order to get the meter to display what is suggested I had to bump the gain setting to +20dB. (Guitar volume up full.)

Boss GX-100. I'm sure I'm missing something.

Press in/out settings button, press input settings tab, then set all your inputs for guitar. It looks like you use the 3rd knob. Pg6 in Manual (PDF). Look like a fun unit. Boss and their love of menu diving. Then again with flexibility come a learning cure…

That's a nice looking unit If you haven't done so, download the software editor too, should make menu diving a bit easier
