That wasn't cheap, pingu. £400 in 1962 is nearly £11,000 in today's money.

We mostly are, I'm afraid. This Forum has lost many fine contributors lately. While rehashing decade-old threads may be indicative of a next generation interested in "timeless" topics, I wonder if it's the Forum getting tired or just me.

I’ve been feeling that a while. I think what keeps me here are the characters. But yeah, we’ve lost a few

That's inflation for you. When I first could afford Denmark St. in the early 70s, 335s /45s cost £150, not £400. Casinos/330s, £100. Teles, £100 or £150 with MN. The bargain of those times were strats, which sold for £70 in the late 60s and still could be had for under £100 then. They were considered out of fashion, and there were lots of them around. Mostly, stripped to the wood, to get rid of that uncool fiesta red colour.

No sweat. Sorry if I came across a bit snippy. Bad day.

Yes, I began to think it was just me that remembered those prices in those days. I recall Lew Davis had two sunburst 59-60 Les Pauls, brand new for 125 guineas each. They were there week after week, unsaleable. I bought a Gretsch Tennessean for £70 and a 62 Precision bass for £65 from Pan Music in, I think, Wardour St, back then.
I've still got my Slaman DS350 thin, though others have come and gone.
