Beloved Wife snuggling with me in our pj's in bed, changing her violin strings while we talked about their feel (flats), gauge, tension, slipping, friction pegs versus the new hidden gear type, etc. Sound posts in viols vs none in archtops, etc. It can't get much more bonding/romantic/better. (She said "Don't you dare show my face!")

ps - Note that with viols, it's a one-at-a-time procedure, so that the sound post doesn't flop out of place, being held only by pressure.

Just curious : how long a set of strings will last on a violin ?

Well just like guitar strings, it depends on how much use they get. She goes around 8 months and the set she's recently been using is around $100.
