What I try to do with my instruments is having an articulated, open sound, with great harmonic content and improved dynamic range - but giving great importance at the main characteristics the acoustic archtop is born: sharp attack, improved projection, and overall greater volume.

I tweak the final output and Eq of the sound using the methods of traditional lutherie: by tweaking the height of the arch I can control the overall volume, attack or harmonic content of the sound. Profiling of the arch gives me control over the stiffness and playability of the instrument. Modifying the vibrational modes 1, 2 and 5 gives me control over the warmth or openness of the sound, the presence of fundamental note or dynamic range (between others).
Also, finishing the recurve at closed box gives me the chance to control the main resonance of the box, while the opening of the f-holes helps me with the resonance of the air (which usually work together, but it’s a long topic).
I tend to use these tweakings according to the type of sound required, but I always try to have the most possibile acoustic performance out of it.
