You are walking along the beach in off the coast of South America and you find a bottle and open it and a Genie pops out. You get these choices and only these what is you preference? Without respect to vintage could even assume them new. Comments on the order of preference if you want.
1. Gibson Super 400ces.
2. Gibson Super 400c ( acoustic)
3. Gibson L5ces
4 Gibson L5c

For me, the L-5 CES is the most useful choice followed by the Super 400 CES. and I prefer the comfort of the 17 inch bout to the 18 incher. I also think the tone is a bit more balanced (less bass heavy) on the 17 incher. So the L-5C would be third and the Super 400C would be last.
That said, any of the 4 are dream guitars to be sure. Why do I think the CES models are more useful than the acoustic models? They are better suited for real world gigs (avoiding feedback is a concern for those of us who play music for pay) and for the music I play, electric guitars can handle a wider range of musical genres than acoustic guitars can. I totally get that others might have a different preference.
But seeing as I already have an L-5CES and a Super 400CES (and an L-5 Wesmo), if that genie appeared, I probably would be adding an L-5C to the harem.
-
I should have added one other choice that would be a Wes L5 with one pickup only.
-
L5 Wes for me with a color for every outfit I wear

-
I don’t like 17” or 18” guitars, so I’d see what else the genie can come up with. A 16” L5 or an L4C would be cool.

Vinny's post begs the question of whether the genie will let us have the color of our choice (perhaps this question needs it's own poll and thread?)
My ranking of the Gibson archtop colors would be:
1. Natural
2. Sunburst
3. Ebony
4. Wine red
And then there are the subset questions on a sunburst. My favorite Gibson bursts are the three color burst and Desert Burst. My least favorite are Tobacco burst and lemon burst.
-
I must agree with Marco especially when the natural top turns to honey color.
-
None of the above.
-
Shoot, I have the four Ibanez MIJs, and I’m going to sell my L5.
Ill keep quiet on this one)))

The beach... sand and water... includes the case, too, right?

I'd be taking it home, where thanks to my solar panel array, there is free electricity. At least as long as the sun comes up.

I'll have a L5 CES Wesmo, please Genie.
What colour? Ooh a nice classy cherry sunburst like Mark Campellone does, please.
Thank you very much.

I have a WesMo and the 17” lower bout feels just right. I have tried to scratch the itch for a two-pickup L5 CES with a few Epiphone Broadways over the years (and I really like them) so for me, I’d ask the genie for a two pickup L5 CES.
Since we are wishing, my preferred finish order is:
1. Natural
2. VSB
3. Wine
4. Ebony
Although I’d love whatever that genie could come up with!
Here’s my WesMo;

I'd go with an L5c, specifically because it would be more or less useless at a gig. I'd have to play it at home, and it would be just me hearing it, like my little secret
I came thisclose to going full acoustic on my Campellone but thought better to have it and not need it...
-
L5C if acoustic would also be my choice... but I might ask the genie to go back into the bottle and I would throw it back into the sea. Let some talented young fundingless player find it.
-
The fully charged, battery powered, solar recharging, amp gene, is a bit further along.

In the poll I was just posting really do see the difference between a CES vs acoustic. The cutaway is not really needed as such, and I don't need one but in some situations they work better. Going into the nosebleed section of the neck is not something I do much of the time.

IMHO the Super 400 CES is the clear winner in terms of sound, it’s an ideal thing.
Size-wise, it fatigues my picking arm and shoulder so I use it for recording but I find it hard to play for long periods of time.
