    Taylors run bright in the first place, they say, but this seems to have some of that "natural compression" of the other accepted hardwood top--mahogany--only with a lot more top end snap.

    I'd imagine folks who like that but think mahogany sounds too dark would love these...

    I associate maple with good note separation due to the less zingy, sustained overtones. I expect these to be good jazz guitars, especially for chord-melodies and extended chord voicings.

    The top is solid. All Taylor tops are solid but some models have laminated back and sides, that's why I think they emphasize the 'solid' back and sides.
