Hi amigos, Richard here from the Netherlands.
Was in a candyshop yesterday, in a collector's appartement.
    Man-oh-man, a collection he has.

I came to check an L-5 he was willing to sell
I chose between a black '91 Jim Triggs and a 2003 Hutchins, black as well but with chrome or nickel hardware.
I made an agreement about the last one.
They both felt excellent but the gold was a bit too fancy for my taste.

Anyone knows the story behind that, I could nt find another example .

    Thnx
    Richard

An impossible decision with no wrong answer. I'd love to have either one you don't want. Would he ship to USA?

Alcohol is for drinking, gasoline is for cleaning parts, nitromethane is for racing. Nickel is for the change bag, chrome is for your car bumper, gold is for guitars.

Gold is always the correct answer. But hey, nice guitar anyways!

I am from the Netherlands and a couple of months ago I allmost bought this one !!. It was my intention to swap all the hardware for gold. I allready bought a mint gold tailpiece and some Alnico V staple PU's in humbucker format ahead of the guitar, the other parts were not hard to get. What happened is, that a brandnew ebony 2022 L5CES with gold hardware came up and I bought that one instead. Unfortunatly, that arrived with a cracked top. I was refunded and in the end I setteled on a 1977 blonde L5CES.

    Such coïncedence.
Did you go to his place to check it out?
What a great collection the man has.

    Staples are great pu's btw.
I had a R4 custom for about ten years but ended up trading it for a 295 '52 reissue.
    Both very cool.

Different strokes, I suppose. Apart from the rarity, I think the black & chrome looks great on that L-5!

Wow man love the collection! That Firebird is a beauty. What model is the little Gibson acoustic?

Th x man, the Gibson is an L-01.
    Great little bluesmachine.
Later Gibson put a silkscreen logo on it and a Robert Johnson inlay in the fretboard.

The Firebird is great too, love that thing.
Here you see Muhammad Gunawan from Gugun Blues Shelter plaing it:

I've seen him play before but it was a strat. I actually couldn't remember the name of that band but as soon as I saw your video I recalled catching a couple videos a few years back. He has a great blues-rock band happening. A smoking guitarist with good vocals, what more can you ask for? I really enjoy the way he plays.

That one must have had chrome bumpers indeed?

    Hey Larry
I am still in awe with your collection man!
I forgot to ask about the history.
Was the nickel hardware on special order or don't you know?

    Grtz

Here is Muhamad playing at my home.
Traded that guitar with Paul from Vintage Guitars & Amps | Bees In A Jar against that red ES-295.
    Still have the Oxblood though.
