Deluxe Reverb is Out for me. It's not clean enough (6V6 tubes). Lacks headroom.
After playing 6L6 amps all my life, I'm getting good results from a Katana 100

I've been interested in the Dream65 because I would like to use it to record in my apartment, so keeping the noise down is critical. So it's a little disappointing to hear your opinion--the sound samples I've heard online are impressive. The Dream65 still might be the best solution for me, given my noise situation.

I shouldn't be surprised at your impressions, I suppose. It is just really really hard--maybe impossible--to match the responsiveness of a nice tube amp.

Did you ever have the chance to compare the UAD pedal with the older Boss 65' DR pedal?

Hi Andy,

I am interested in your opinion on the three free and open source amp emulation plugins on this website in comparison to the UAD. I haven’t tested them my self (no recording /mixing setup at the moment) but I found the demos quite impressive despite the fact that the programmer might not be the best player in the world.
