I remember hearing that months ago, I hope it's not only true, but that new US tubes aren't as costly as NOS Mullards or whatever the hot cork sniffer tube is these days. I'll only have the one tube amp when my Mesa sells, but the one I'm keeping is just luscious sounding and I'd really like to keep it that way

I'll believe it when I see it.
There was another company claiming to be starting tube production in the US about 10 years ago and they barely managed to produce a website.
Isn't there a company in the UK claiming to start making tubes under the Brimar name?
I'm happy with my JJs out of the Slovak Rep.

Western Electric isn’t some start-up. They’ve been manufacturing hi-fi tubes for decades. They expanded their facility recently with the intention of entering the guitar amp tube market. This is far, far more likely to happen than anything else we’ve heard.

Yes, Western Electric is a storied company that was disbanded when Bell was disbanded in the late 80s. Charles Whitener bought the name, intellectual property, and tube manufacturing equipment from AT&T in 1996. They've been making 300B and hifi equipment since 1997. Their 300B tubes sell for $700us each, a pair of their Monoblock 300B amps sell for $125,000us (not a typo.) Well respected and great reviews. Can they make 12AX7, 6L6, 6V6, EL34, etc. tubes that are comparable to NOS tubes which are still available but at a cheaper price? They won't be able to price match Chinese/Russian/Slovak prices. Maybe a superior tube to the overseas tubes but not a crazy price? Or will they cater to the sort of people who buy their other products? We'll see.

I suspect they will be very expensive, but may add value to any amp that would have them installed, therefore making it worthwhle. In fact, if you build guitar amps, one sees the meat of the amp is in the tubes. Without good tubes a guitar amp is just some wire, resistors and capacitors.

In other words, SNO tubes, without the B? (Sorry, couldn't resist
