I recently played a 1925 L-3 that has a 1930 nick Lucas neck on it. The seller says it was done at the factory. It plays well, appears to be in good shape, and the guy seems knowledgeable and trustworthy. I really liked the neck!! But I am new to old gibsons and don’t want buy something I won’t be able to sell down the road if I need to. It is priced just under 3k. I am hoping to answer a few questions like…
Are factory neck swaps common and how do they affect value?
How would the value compare to a stock L-3 with its original neck?
Is there anything I should look out for with these guitars?
Thank you so much, we have some incredibly knowledgeable members here and I really appreciate any help!

I owned a fully original one and didn't like it. Also had a beautiful Style O and a Harp. All kind of tubby sounding. Just MO.

Bumping this up.. anybody else have any experience with these? Should I just pass on it? I loved the neck and thought it fit my style very well but can’t afford to lose a bunch of money on it if it has issues I am missing.

How does the seller know it was done at the factory?

That is a good question! I certainly plan to ask him. Is there any way to tell? How does it affect the guitar and the value if it wasn’t done at the factory?
I think they dropped the “the” from “the Gibson” in 30 but might be wrong. The headstock does say Gibson.
