This beauty was built in 2001 but you would never know it to look at her. Not a mark anywhere. The soundboard is German spruce and the back and sides are Koa. My first experience with the wood. I never believed it had figuring like this instrument exhibits. I spent the morning cleaning, polishing and putting my favorite flat wounds on her. First audition tonight. I found this 2018 video which was filmed that last time she changed hands. The sound sample starts at about 2:05. If only guitars could talk to tell us their history....

Wow!

Nice, but they misspelled “Anniversary”.
Just kidding!
Beautiful guitar, with beautiful inlays and awesome figuring. I love the 3-D Art Deco headstock design, as well as the tailpiece and pickguard.

I'm generally not fond of "blondes," but this guitar is stunning.

Nice guitar!
At first I was expecting an electric tenor archtop to celebrate the music, life and times of Tiny Grimes....
-
That is a spectacular guitar!

Beautiful!

Steve Grimes is a top flight luthier! His guitars are amazing. Congratulations, with wishes for much musical enjoyment, good health and cheer!

I purchased this Grimes a few years ago here. It’s a Kula Rose model with a carved arched top and a flat back. Like the prior Grimes posted it has beautiful figured Koa on the back and sides, and a European spruce top. This one has both a floating humbucker and a piezo. (Please pardon the low res photos.)
Back in 2020 my wife and I attended a Grimes 1000th instrument celebration in Maui. He has done some outstanding work over the years.

Gorgeous. He knows how to color wood to make it look as warm as the tone the instrument produces.

Wow, awesome.

I have to ape that (open mouthed, too). If she sounds as good as she looks it's hard to believe she ever cost as little as the sum mentioned in the video!

A very comfortable 16 inches. I don't like the sound of any archtop acoustically. The magic is in the smooth electrical tones.

Pity, IMHO you don't need an excuisit(ly) carved hollow-body archtop for that.

To add to the general approval, that Anniversary is just beautiful!

Wouldnt you agree that a carved archtop with a floating pickup sounds different from a laminated dito?

This is the sort of guitar you could hold in your hands and stare at for long periods of time.
The clip demonstrates a really lovely amplified sound leaning towards the acoustic nature of the instrument rather than the electric. Just delightful! I hope this instrument inspires you for many years to come. Thanks for sharing!

Is that an outer layer of wood binding over multi layer plastic?

I have a Grimes Coryell model, Koa and German spruce. Around the house it gets played 90 percent of the time. Congrats on a beautiful instrument.

Would you mind posting a pic!
