I had one of those in the late '70s but it was a standard sunburst, both sides. It was a real beauty. They're pretty rare these days. Wish I had it back. Pat Martino had one. And I think a member of The Jefferson Airplane (Paul Kantner maybe?) had one.

Exactly like mine. Some had a stop tailpiece. Mine had the same tailpiece as an L5CES. Gorgeous guitars.

The day I took it home the store burned down that night! True story.

Here’s the guitar from the original post, 2 1/2 years later. It now has Throbak pickups and a slightly altered control arrangement. It has become my #1 solidbody. Just a great guitar!

I'll keep mine as it is, no mods needed, Tarback pickups are great and the look as it is naturally aged to perfection,
not even Murphy Lab could do such eye candy ageing.

The Gibson L-5S is one of my "Dream Guitars". Unfortunately too much expensive for me. The Greco LS-120 could be an alternative option but is even more rare than the Gibson.

I have a question for the experts: can a Gibson L-5S with the "stop" Tune-O-Matic Bridge converted to the traditional L-5 tailpiece? What about the works on the guitar's body? Can I find the bridge and the Tailpiece as spare parts?
Thank-You
Ettore
