Late to this thread, but I wanted to add my vote for Wood Street Guitar Repair. If you've seen my custom Wu on other threads, you'll know that I took that guitar to Wood for the electronics, PLEK and final details. They did a great job, and it was well worth the money and the wait. I've had them do smaller jobs and setups over the past 5-6 years, and always been happy with their work and service. Because they're so busy, they are referring smaller jobs to Mountain Music on Piedmont Ave in Oakland.
As for vintage amps, Lawrence at Rance Electronics in Berkeley is still willing to work on Polytones, and has decades of experience with them (he used to work at Blue Note Music in Berkeley.) Again, highly recommended, especially for old solid state jazz amps, which most places won't touch.
