I didn't know you had a Holst. That one's a beauty!

Mr. Holst informed me that his laminate plates are very similar to those made by Mr. Roger Borys. As with Mr. Borys, Mr. Holst's laminated plates sound very, very, good as I've owned them both. I basically had Stephen Holst build a laminate with the same dimensions as a Borys B-120 or a Sadowsky Jim Hall (16" X 2.75" with 25" scale).

A couple of years ago when he built my carved arch top we found a new stash of wood with a supplier and he was smart and bought a bunch of really elegant billets from the guy -,that wood source has since dried up.
He cuts his own plates and is really good at it so if you buy a laminated guitar from him you’re gonna really be surprised how resonant and sweet it is.
he makes your guitar exactly the way you want it and he is a perfectionist it’s pretty hard to go wrong with Steve Holst and as others have said his prices are really fair.

Bound, right down to the pick guard. I really like that.

busy putting together chicken cacciatore. Now that all of that is simmering away I can put a few pictures of my 17 inch fully carved Holst up

Beautiful guitar BM!

So there was a price increase to $4k after yours. I had no idea these great guitars were produced so inexpensively! Even $4k is a steal today for a handmade archtop.

Lots to consider.

Talk with Steve! I knew a lot of what I wanted, and he was very helpful with the rest!

I paid a tad more than that for a (slightly)used Borys of similar construction.

Yeah, it can be a little mind numbing. Before ordering from Holst all I had to do to buy a guitar was to play it and see if I liked it. You’ll figure it out. Call Steve if you need to. He can be very helpful.

Looks good Big but did you cook it down that much on purpose?

Wintermoon
it’s necessary to cook it down the way I did but it is not dry at all the combination of the caramelized vidalia onions and red bell peppers and button mushrooms with the wine and the plum tomatoes and fresh basil makes the chicken just fall apart and the vegetables have the best flavors
you use about a cup to 12 ounces of red wine and being I don’t drink anymore I had an older Cabernet that I popped and used, a Hess reserve from 2016
I gave some to an old widow I know on the fourth floor today I made her fucking day I assure you
