Hello,
This morning I heard "softly as in a morning sunrise" by Bill Frisell and Fred Hersch.
I liked Frisell's tone a lot on this recording.
Anyone who knows what guitar he uses on this recording?
Or maye someone saw them performing live?
And are there other recordings where his tone is outstanding?

Think I found the answer:
The "discogs" site mentions he uses Klein electric and acoustic.
-
The album was 1998 or so, right? Back then he probably was using a Klein; since then, he's gone back and forth with several different guitars, and I always enjoy his tone!

The "Songs We Know" album?
I always thought the acoustic sounds there were his Andersen archtop...
-
Me too! But I think he plays a couple different guitars in the Hersch sessions.

He has also used a variety of custom made telecasters; when I saw him a few weeks ago he was using one with what appeared to be a filtertron in the rhythm position; couldn't see the lead pickup.
