    Hi, K,
I like both guitars but my choice would be the Hamadyk for playing Jazz. It has a rounded, smoky sound with more depth, to my ears, and, if needed, its sound could be easily tweaked without tone controls on the instrument/amp by simply playing closer to the bridge if you need a bit more clarity and overall brightness for certain passages. Also, nice playing, K!

Kris, I liked the sound of the Hamadyk myself. Marinero above has described the sound very well, deep and yet clear, very well suited for jazz and especially anything associated with a Round Midnight tone. What is it that makes up the Hamadyk guitar? Build, pu´s etc? Very nice!

I like both but you play a lot better on the Hamadyk. You've always had wonderful tone when you play Teles and on this clip from the Hamadyk, you capture the classic Ed Bickert vibe.

Is it me, or my listening rig? But the Santander Tele sounds more like a guitar than the muddier take with the H. guitar!
I hear some nice harmonic overtones in the H. recording, but it sounds like everything is "under a blanket" and trying to get out. I was digging the S. guitar (first one I listened to) and thought the H. guitar is gonna be better (based on the comments I read before listening), but no sir.

But....nice playing kris on both. Versatility with those two guitars!

    Thank Jim,
Hamadyk's Tele has PAF Humbucker so I like the sound also...

First One! Try recording the second one with less tone knob rolled off to match the first one.
But as stated above it all comes down to which one feels best to you. They both do the job equally well!

I like the Santander better, though both sound very good. It's the clarity of the Santander that makes the difference.

    Hi, K,
This is what we should be talking about more on JGF---defining and developing one's personal sound and how we do it. We all have a personal voice in life. Should we not find our personal voice in our instrument of choice? The differences in previous responses attest to this reality/desire in serious music. Very good comparison between two similar but different instruments.

    Hi M,
    Very accurate observations.
"We all have a personal voice in life. Should we not find our personal voice in our instrument of choice?"
It should be like that, but it is not that simple in real application. We use instruments / guitars / that sound very similar to the truth. The human voice has many more sound variants, although it is only a voice.A very complicated matter.

I liked the playing on both but prefered the sound of the Santander. The Hamadyk, in that first recording, sounds like there is a blanket over the speaker. I never would have guessed it was a Tele

    Thanks a lot.
When it comes to guitar pickups.
Both of these Telecasters have humbuckers in neck position.
The only difference is that the Santander has single coil size humbuckers.

I actually liked the first Santander clip tone due to it's clarity and perceived warmth. I'd also agree to adjust the tone knob on the Hamadyk a bit.
