Accordion to folklore. accordionists in certain remote Alpine hamlets high in the Swiss Alps, used to tie dried tree turtle shells to their instruments to ward away evil spirits. They used household string for a while, but found that it was not durable enough to handle the unforgiving climate, so they started using guitar stings. Thru trial and error they found that the Thomastic Jazz Bebop string were ideal for this task,. This tradition dates back 300 years.
