I finally got around to recording the Mustang. I bought this just to have a guitar that I was comfortable playing in standard pitch but I'm having a lot of fun with it. It certainly is easier for my aging hands that my usual 25.5" scale length and I think it sounds surprisingly good for an overweight slab.
It's a 2016 Player's Series with a not very good hard tail bridge and none of the usual overly complicated Mustang switching setup.

I have the Olive Green Fender Mustang. I wanted one ever since discovering John McLaughlin played it on most the records with Miles Davis and his incredible album Devotion. It took some getting used to since my other main guitar is a Godin Fifth Avenue, but now I really like it. What's not very good about the bridge?
Oh yeah and while Olive Green is nice, I want one with psychedelic colours like McLaughlin:

Very nice.
I had my strat out last night and used it to work on my Martin Taylor lessons and the tone was delicious.
There's jazz to be found in those Fender guitars.

Mustangs are wonderful guitars. Compact and solid. And dense. The pay-off: full-scale sustain and tone with shorter-scale comfort. Love mine!

Here's my demo:
