Tim Lerch just posted this several hours ago on YouTube - I never would have thought about using a DeArmond Rhythm Chief pickup in the Tele neck position. It really sounds good! I don't think I'd do it to my American Performer Tele (Tim mentioned he made the mod to an MIM Vintera 50s Roadworn). But another Tele.....hmmmmmm.

Sounds great for TL (but then he'd make a three string cigar box guitar sound great).
IIRC Cornell Dupree put a DeArmond, forget which model, in the middle position on his Telecaster.

It is undeniably a sweet tone! Hmmmn...

Exactly - that's why I love and hate Tim's demos! Amazing player, cool cat.

BTW, Part 2 has been posted of the Rhythm King pickup/Tele combo.

It sounds good. Is it a tele tone though? For me, tele neck tone is about softness with clarity. That's got the clarity but not the softness, to my ears at least.
You can make a tele sound pretty much anyway you want I guess. I like them to sound a bit like teles.
There no argument with the playing though. It's a good to watch as to listen to.

I love the way that Tim hacks around with these things. He's almost perfectly answered the question I was thinking about when this thread began (although now I'd really like to hear it with the 1000).
