A buddy of mine owns some nice archtops. The one I like best is a Fitzpatrick, made at some time in the past in Rhode Island. Absolutely to die for. Quilted maple that shows as deep undulating valleys like I've never seen before. Solid, full, even articulation and balance horizontally and vertically. He bought it from a deceased friend's estate and doesn't know any more about it than I could find out, which is nothing. BTW not to be confused with a Peerless-OEM'd Fitzpatrick, which is a different animal entirely. Anybody?

Understood. I'll be up there in a week or so. He's got a 1965 Epiphone Triumph I may pick up. It's a nice instrument in its own right. There is literally nothing on the internet about Fitzpatrick guitars other than an address to a small one bedroom house in Rhode Island. So I'm not sure how many he actually built, let alone sold. I'm not too optimistic about arriving at a realistic price. As I mentioned to him, I've had a couple of Triggs San Salvadors that went in the mid $3's and Jim Triggs is an established builder with a heckuva pedigree. A great guitar by an unknown builder is difficult to sell if you have to. So we'll see.
