Maybe this is basic info, so pardon my ignorance. How does he isolate tracks like he does? Does he have access to master tapes/files?

Word on the street is that he is using multitrack stems that were ripped from the Guitar Hero and Rockband games, converted into MOGG files (Multitrack OggVorbis) and circulated by torrent. These files are easy to find on Internet, and can be pulled apart in Audacity and similar programs.

Just a word to the wise: getting involved in torrent-trading can open your computer to nasty things.

I don’t know. I’m friends with Dave from the show (we were in music school in Atlanta together years ago) and he won’t tell me. Just that it’s a secret. LOL

On Internet, many industry people say they would never share their stems. However, somebody recalled that Beato once played a Sting stem, presumably bass, that included a vocal line not present on the completed recording. This would seem to be an authentic piece of studio recording, not something knocked off from a video game.
