    Epiphone ES 175 | eBay
Is this peculiar and very expensive?

If for any reason I had put in such a bonkers custom order, and if Gibson/Epiphone had accepted it, I'd be providing a lot more detail than that. Such as the order form, the receipt, the email trail of the inevitable discussions...

    I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Norman is a great guy and a long term collector seller. He's not green and the guitar is more than likely genuine but of course you need to do due diligence.

a guitar like that has no real value except wheat someone is willing to pay. Loads of super rare Gibsons that aren't worth more than £1000.

The seller/Norman appears as a dishonest ass, as the valiant Ukrainians said "Russian warship, go fuck yourself"

Hmm. Two low res photos of a decidedly nonstandard guitar, virtually no description ("Epiphone ES175 DC comes with original hard shell case Custom order
    Gibson body & Epiphone Neck").

For only £4400 (what's that, $5000 USD?) What could go wrong?

AFAIK there were no Epiphone-badged ES-175s in 1960-61. The inlays are wrong for both Gibson and Epi 175s. Best and most charitable scenario is a 60-61 Gibson ES-175 with the neck replaced with the only one the luthier had on hand. But it's got witch hat knobs, those came about '67-68...

I would not remotely consider buying that guitar without being able to inspect it in person, very closely, and even then certainly not at that price.

Norman doesn't advertise. I called his shop the other day and he had to get a guitar down to read the hanging tag to tell me how much he wanted for it.
He has never advertised his guitars. He has a 52 Epiphone with the same amount of photos.

You are supposed to go to the shop period. That's how he does business and he has been in business for decades.

I don't know much about the off-shore Epiphones, but what makes that guitar's body "Gibson." Looks like a regular Epiphone guitar to my untrained eye.

I don't get a full description. So I'm wondering about scale length for starters. And blade shape. And tuners. Why would anybody specify such a bastard in the first place?
