Actually I can't complain. When I recently got a new arch top she asked me, "are you going to need a new amp for that?".

    She's a keeper!

It's a process of self realisation.

    Sounds like it.

My wife says to me: all I ask is that you're actually going to play it.

I would listen very carefully to the intonation and observe the way her eyes roll when she askes that…… depending on that it could have a totally different meaning than what you think My Collings Hollowbody TrioMy Collings Hollowbody TrioMy Collings Hollowbody Trio

Any of those have the Throbaks? And if so, do you think they (the Throbaks) are worth the premium price over so many other fantastic PAFs out there?

(what am I saying, I'm talking to someone who owns THREE Collings... lol)

I actually decided if I ever spend that kind of money on a guitar, I was getting the I35-LC w/Throbaks. However. Collings now has the 470JL which interests me much more... my big Gretsch is getting a bit uncomfortable for me to play with my shoulder issues (which is why the thinner-and-smaller I35 was so interesting), but when I saw and heard the 470JL... wow...

sounds like your decision is made.

My I35LC (red) has TBs that are a bit hotter than what Collings puts stock in the guitar. Ordered with custom pups, faded red and bound fingerboard, which at the time was not standard on the guitar. The I35LCV has 'stock' TB's that aren't as hot and have more of a vintage tone. No custom mods on the I35LCV is what i was told.

Do i think TB's are worth the price over other vintage pup options? Not qualified to answer as i haven't played the options. What i do trust is that Collings does more to make sure the guitar is just as they want it well before we have any chance of owning one and i'm differing to their recommendation.

Hope you enjoy the JL in your future

Love the walnut one in the middle. A walnut 335 was my first good guitar back in the 70's. New, $399. with the case.

Thank you and what you described was exactly the vibe it gives me, I had one I got mid 80's but the neck twisted and was beyond repair so we parted ways. That price, wow hard to believe!

    Nice

I have a City Limits which is super nice.

Toured the Collings factory once. Worth going there if you're in the Austin area.

    A beautiful trio!

Just out of curiosity: I beieve their bodies appear a little smaller than their Gibson 335/330 cousins, am I right?

I am also curious how the top is braced in the P90 model. It’s hollow right? Does it have parallel bracing or perhaps a small block under the bridge? *edit: oh on their website I read it has trestle bracing, interesting!
