What are some good Line 6 HX Stomp presets, that are good starting points for building a jazz preset to save?
Also, are there any particular cab blocks that you like for jazz?

Before going any further :
- are you going from the unit directly into a powered speaker or into a computer interface ?
- or do you put it in front of a normal guitar amp / into the return socket of your amp's fx-loop ?
I use my HX Stomp in front of my BUD amp and also plugged directly into the power amp section via the return input, both for gigs and at home. The presets are pretty much useless for me so I build my own which is not too complicated once you have read the manual and understood the basic architecture of the unit.
There are numerous clips on youtube where you can learn to program it quickly and effectively.
The first block is a limiter/compressor, set very low, followed by the "Minotaur" clone as a slightly coloring mild boost. I then split the signal into route A and B : A going straight to a 10-band equalizer (adjust to taste/guitar) and a plate reverb (100 ms pre-delay, ca. 4 sec duration, 13% mix) and to the mono output. Route B goes to a vibrato block and a modulated stereo delay and is then routed to the separate stereo out. This stereo FX signal goes into my Roland Street EX amp with it's stereo power amp so I have a clean direct signal from my main amp and the "wet" signal comes from the separate cab - I can program the amount of the wet signal into each preset - less fx when comping, more for a solo, depending on style, which group I'm playing with etc. . For a straight-ahead Jazz sound I only use a bit of reverb, very mild limiting (going for a tape-saturation effect) and the Minotaur/EQ blocks are adjusted depending on which guitar I use and into which cab/speaker the signal is fed.
As far as Amp blocks/models are concerned I suggest you start with a Fender Twin model, set the input volume low, amp volume higher, turn down the treble and use a separate EQ block for fine-adjustment. There are also several models of small tube amps/cabs available - these tend to distort fairly early when driven with a powerful guitar signal.
It takes some time to really get the hang with this - it is not a "simple" plug-and-play affair ! You are rewarded with a powerful and great-sounding unit that you can take with you regardless of the type of gig you're playing. Using the editor-program on your computer is also a good start and helps with understanding all the possibilities... Have fun and don't give up too soon !

I can agree with the Gitman. I have found that most of the onboard presets were unusable, but there are a couple of Jazz presets which can make a good starting point, JQ-JAZZCHORUS and Methany Tone. I honestly can't remember if these were stock presets or downloaded for the Line 6 custom tone site.
