This just got sold on the Canadian Guitar Forum. It sold in less than a day but I'm not entirely sure how I missed it. It's a 2013 175 RI which is probably the only 175 that's ever really interested me. With new frets, no COA and a non-original case, it even went for a good price (from a reliable seller too). Oh well. I guess it was not meant to be.

I missed out on the only 175 I've ever wanted-es175ri-jpg

As Yoda said, “No, there is another.”

    You’ll find another no doubt.

Jim it looks as though Eastman is selling a similar John Pisano model for 2022. Check it out

Could you please describe why is this the only one, I mean what are those attributes it differs from other 175s?

The "problem" with the Eastman ES175 copies is that they have maple necks.
It's not a bad thing, but it's a difference that has it's importance if you're looking for the typical ES175 sound.
I was looking for ES175 style guitar, and strangely a lot of the copies, whatever the brand, had maple necks.
It was quite hard to find a spot on copy of a Es175, and at the end the closest thing was a Tokai FA245.
I'm really really happy with it.
I'm still searching for the best strings to match perfectly the sound I'm looking for, but it's a keeper.

I suppose this is 1959 Reissue. I had one for some years. It has thinner top than many ES-175s and combined with the one pu thing it makes the sound a bit different from many other ES-175s. (Remembering that every ES-175 sounds a bit different...)

I tried to make it sound like a 'normal ES-175' by swapping pickup but never succeeded. Now I have a 1984 mahogany back ES-175 which gives me the warm sound what I have had in my head.

Otherwise this is best guitar in the world. Perfect sunburst, perfect weight (about 3 kg) and just one pu makes it classy looking.

I am sure that this would be perfect in the hands of Jim! Don't give up, You'll find another!

That's most of it. All of the reviews over the years (including here) have raved about how light and responsive is it. I'm sure a real 1959 would be fabulous but they sell for a price that I will never be able to afford so this was the center of the Venn diagram where modern prices and vintage design overlap. And this one was sufficiently used to be almost affordable.

This one was a great deal. I wasn’t surprised at all that it got snatched up so quickly.

My fault. I generally look on CG's boards every day. I'm not really looking for a 175 but I've always liked that particular one. Oh well. It's not like I don't have a guitar to play.

I don’t know what this one sold for but Jim you might want to look out for deals in the early 50s models. They come up every once in a while. If you really want hum canceling, the fralin noiseless p90s are always an option. Yes it would be a larger investment up front but in return you get old, dry, resonant wood, and probably a much higher relative resale value if you part with it.

I don't know what the actual selling price was but the asking was $3500 CDN. That's roughly $2750 US. It was very much a "player's guitar and the price reflected that fairly by Canadian pricing standards: recent fret job, non-original case, no COA and some non-structural cosmetic issues. Just as important it was from a known and trusted seller and it was already here in Canada. Where we live now makes it quite difficult to buy from outside of Canada. Shipping is awkward and expensive (plus imports are subject to sales tax) and this is one of the few provinces without a US land border so travelling to the US to receive a guitar is very difficult. And it was a price I could afford ... just. A bigger front end ticket is not out of the question but it is tough at this point in our life.

Didn't you sell a somewhat large archtop because it hurt your arm/shoulder?

Bigger than this with a 25.5' scale length.

$3500 CDN for a 175? That's a really low asking price in today's market. No wonder it sold quickly.

Jim. I'll keep my eyes out for one for you with your preferred specs ... This one was a good deal, largely because it had been PLAYED a lot.

Yeah…new frets needed on a 9-year old guitar…somebody must’ve played the heck out of it. Not a closet queen.

That is generally a good sign that it plays well and sounds wonderful.

Thanks. Played a lot is always a good sign. Who knows what I'll want soon? The prototype of the new Soloway S14" is going to be reality in about a week. Maybe all the Gas goes away at that point ... Or maybe not ?

Uff hope you'll find one sooner rather than later...

These have tiny 50s style frets, so the refret does not surprise me if it's been played daily.

I just got a dual pickup VOS yesterday so keep your eyes open

I guess I’m fine with maple necks, since they add a bit more snap especially with an ebony fingerboard. The new Eastman JP 480C looks like an absolute winner in my book!
