Gibson Original Collection..always wanted one and when the OC included it in the series that was it. It's beyond fun, and a great playing and sounding guitar. You can actually go tent camping with the case Looking forward to hearing your Explorer story!

    Nice guitar !
I'll bet there will not be too many, but who knows ?
Never tried one, but I'm curious about how it plays in a jazz context

Love Explorers, always wanted to get along with one, but the lack of actual body on the bass side of the pickups always gave me fits I LOVE the look though, and that one is gorgeous, congrats!

I'd also like to see a dedicated 'jazzer' playing one! I have LP's and a 335 and it sounds as good as any of them to my ear. Thanks for checking this out!

One of McCarty & Co.'s coolest designs, way ahead of its time. It looks to be perfectly balanced on a strap, and easily positioned at my favorite 45 degree angle. Simple control layout, striking looks, 100% accessible neck - way cool! I congratulate you on a fine and under-rated (if not under-priced ) instrument.

Here is my 2006 Explorer with a custom pick guard. I bought it in 2007. I replaced the neck pickup with a Pearly Gates. The guitar just feels like a musical weapon. When I want to rock, it delivers. But, Jazz comes first, heh! Heh!

It’s got the same 12 notes, humbuckers and a tone knob. I think the problems would be people listening with their eyes.

I’ve had a few Explorers. I love the design, but I’ve just never quite bonded with one. This one is a rare candy apple red version of the 1983 Heritage Series Korina Explorer. I’m not sure how many Gibson made in this color, but it’s not many. I decided it was time to move it when the korina craze started recently. I’ve also had an Explorer Custom and a Lzzy Hale Signature.

They made a smaller version with different woods and mini humbuckers some years back. Very comfortable playing instrument, sorry I didn’t buy it back then.

I had the good fortune of having a friend with an original '50's Explorer- an incredible sounding guitar, maybe the best rock guitar I ever played! Comfortable to play on a strap, but my recollection is that it's awkward to play sitting. I guess it was made for the stage!

Gibson Explorer + Jazz = Pretty nice, thick, glassy tone

that's worth serious cash these days isn't it! My Explorer, which certainly isn't in the league you shared, is maybe my best sounding HB guitar. I knocks me out every time I play it, and usually a piece of furniture.

wow what a great way to start a day! I mean the tone, and your playing! Blindfolded who could say that isn't great tone, then they see the beast it exudes from!

Explorer? Count me in. Gibson's most ergonomic design by far - perfectly balanced, built-in elbow rest. Gibson has quietly been making Explorers continuously since reintroducing the model in 1976, and has played with the formula over the years. I'm partial to the all-mahogany / ebony-board / wider&fatter neck version built in the later '90s/early '00s. Lots of mahogany is a good thing for a solidbody guitar, IMO.
