Pickup mounted in fretboard?

Just watching the Gibson TV Joe Bonamassa episode. Among all interesting guitars ("I'm collecting stories, the guitars come free with them") he has a Gibson J-200 named 'Walter' which has a fabulous pickup on it. I have never seen even a pic of these:



Is anyone familiar with these?
