Thanks to Hammertone I am now the happy owner of a Redstone 1x12 cab. I've wanted one of these for such a long time and just never seemed to be in the right place at the right time. What a lovely cab. Makes me think it's a real shame that the owner of the company couldn't make a go of it. Thanks Stephen for making this happen.

I've heard the Redstone name bandied about for some time but have never had the opportunity to play through or hear one in person. What makes it a stand out product?

BTW, I've generally thought of cabinets as interchangeable (generic) components. Besides open/closed/ported designs, what sets cabinets apart?

The Redstone 12s are now very hard to come by, congrats. I am jealous. I THINK they made an ER version with adjustable tweeter output, but ICBW.

And on top of the sound, the construction is rock-solid.

    CONGRATS!

Will you be posting pics? I'm not familiar regarding the specifics of these cabs.

    ENJOY!

There were two owners of the Redstone company. They saw Rich Raezer's success building cabinets for jazz guitarists and thought that there was room for another company in the business. It did not work out well for them. They gave me a Redstone 12 inch cabinet early on to use and write about. I had a Raezer's Edge Stealth 12ER at the time. I liked the Redstone cabinet and gave it a positive review. My review was on their website until they ceased operations. I eventually decided that I preferred the Raezer's Edge cabinet and sold the Redstone cabinet (I still have my Stealth 12ER). But I will say that the Redstone cabinets were quite good. Rich Raezer got jazz luminaries like Pat Martino and Mundell Lowe to endorse his products while the Redstone guys got local talent cats (like me) as their endorsers. Getting the luminaries to endorse your product is a sound business plan. Ask Bob and Cindy Bennedetto about that!

I've used an 8" Redstone cab as my main speaker for almost 15 years, and I can't say enough good about it. Congrats on an excellent purchase.

What is the brand and model of 8" speaker used in your Redstone cabinet? Thanks

Its closed back and I've never opened to look, but I believe its some model of Eminence. I'm sure someone here knows the specifics.

    Thanks.

I'm wondering if the speaker is an 8" Eminence Alpha or Beta.

Welcome to the top of the mountain, son! I've observed your steady determination to get up here, and I knew you'd finally make it to the mellow, full sound world of REDSTONE!
I drove out to the wilds of Southern NJ to pick up mine at Golden Age guitars for only $120.00. He didn't have a RS amp cover, so he gave me a Polytone cover. In spite of the name on it, it's a fine cover...
