Im going to put together a partscaster for tuning down a step or step and a half, any suggestions for string gauges....12s or maybe 13s or other, any thoughts?

It depends on why you're tuning down. What's more important to you : reducing tension or warming tone? Do you pick with a hard touch or a light touch? I use D'addario Chrome 10's tuned down to D on a 25.5" scale length but I like very low tension and I have a very light touch so I can control the loose feel but it's definitely not a setup for everyone.

Thanks for your thoughts, i was looking to get that sweet warm big sound more than anything, less resistance on the right hand would also be a bonus, guitars in the thought stage not sure what neck pickup to use the allparts minihumbucker in a couple of my other teles always sounds sweet or maybe a charle christian?

I just like the guitar's sonic range better tuned down a full step. I use 13-56 TI flats most of the time.
