Nice, Jim! I love P-90s for jazz!
-
Sounds great Jim. Is this the underwound version? Alnico 6 or Neodymium?
-
I would really like to hear these pups in an archtop like an ES-175 and demonstrated by a player who uses a pick - lots of clips are available with original P90‘s in all sorts of styles incl. straight ahead jazz but none with these noiseless ones … anyone ?
-
I actually have no idea. I got it from a local tech friend who just happened to have it on hand when I was asking about a hum cancelling pickup for this guitar.

Actually no, I cannot seem to find any explanation how they achieve hum cancelling with (presumably) a single-coil PU?

Do a google image search for Fralin hum-canceling p90. They have two coils mounted “sideways” with one set of magnets between them.

Not really a single-coil design anymore then, is it

Nope, that'd be hum prevention or avoidance...

I got a set of Fralin High Output Split Blade pickups for my American Performer Mustang.
They sound very close to the P90s in my Gibson a with just a bit higher output. I think they're fantastic.
