Looking at the AF2000 in the new 2022 catalogue, whats the closest before this model?

looks like JP20 shape body headstock although thinner? 175 scale length & 2 pups and 20 frets

    AF2000 & AF200, what is the difference?

    Hello Durban….

These listings will answer your questions better than I cause I know I will forget something
Note the body thickness; these are not the Ibanez ‘full hollow body’ depth. My AF200 is a 2014, I quite like it. These models are both Made In Japan (MIJ) at Fujigen and are of high quality.

It's just an AF200 with a more attractive tailpiece. Supposedly the center section of the mahogany/maple/mahogany neck is roasted but it will make minimal difference in tone.

Jack: they also changed the maple back and sides to Anigre. As woods go, wood knowing people generally say it’s said to be closer to a mahogany than maple. Talking with Rob M about his new AF2000 and hearing it, I think it’s true. A deeper richer sound than my maple back/side AF200.

They changed the body woods from maple in the AF200/AS200 to Anigre, which is supposed to sound more like mahogany, in the AF2000/AS2000. Also they changed the tailpieces in the AF.

EDIT: Ninja'd by the JK! lol

Ibanez also previously announced a price increase coming in February, which usually means it will be a significant increase if you're on the fence...

I briefly had an AS2000 which is also anigre and it pretty much sounded like the maple guitars AS200 guitars I've played. It's a thin laminate ply so I doubt it makes a huge difference. Probably done for cost savings. The Anigre is softer than the maple so it's probably slightly warmer. The roasted maple strip in the neck will also be warmer. I've found that roasted maple sounds somewhat in between mahogany and maple.

Im trying to get that wood tailpiece. Scarce!
True on that price increase. It sounded like 2022 will be an outlier year for Ibanez, didnt it?

Happy New Year Jack and jim777!

mrs jk dumped half a glass of Taittinger on her dinner plate, of course all upset. I said gee wizz youd have to pay extra for a champagne sauce.

Did not have the happy jolly calming effect at all.

The af200 and af2000 are thinner at the edges
