Hiya all! I want to thank everyone in the loop for an incredible year. Next to nothing in the first four months, followed by our busiest period ever. The whys: gigging resumed in the US and the Quilter SuperBlock amps launched. Overall, north of 100 Toobs and Metros shipped this year, 25 countries all told. The US remains the most important market by far. While all guitar and bass bases are covered, jazz guitar is where it all started and where my personal focus remains. Alas, I'm now 75 and have to wind down sooner or later. The entire business - finally in the black - is up for grabs. Anyone interested out there?
May 2022 be the year when Covid was finally contained!

Congratulations Markhu! It's been fun to watch Toob catch on and grow over the years. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the great information you've posted here about small amps and small speakers.
GLWTS as we say around here. I wish you a happy retirement, with many more hours in the day for playing music.
All the best to you in the New Year!
Charles

Knowing you’re getting ready to retire from the business has me thinking that I should do it now, just to experience it.
Have a safe and happy holiday season!

Marku I suspect youve heard the saying-’tis better to light one candle than curse the dark?
well good you on taking your Toob concept to reality and fruition rather than sitting on forums and sniping products others make. Having built a business, no matter how small, really schools you on human, um, ‘nature’))). Been there, done that, and highly respect you for taking on a tiny corner of the music world and being successful!
Whatever you Believe this Holiday
I wish you peace)

Hello Markku!
As has been expressed above, thank you for all your input in the forum. Your impressions and thoughts here have been interesting, well weighed and expressed.
To the Toob production, I wish a long life, as I do to you and your wife and family.
Best
James

Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you Markku! Another well pleased TOOB user here!

Gitter, even thought I haven't bitten (because I'm pretty set), it looks like you've got a great line going there. Congrats.

Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement! I'm not going to disappear any time soon. There's almost 50 speakers on the shelf waiting to be mounted and shipped, and a successor must be found and broken in. See you in 2022!
A Peaceful Yuletide To All!

Instead of "We can't control the bottleneck", I would have liked to see something like "We thought we could pick up the shipment yesterday, but it couldn't be arranged. We plan and hope to be able to get them by the first week of January and will keep you all posted."
I'm sure everyone at Quilter (and Toob and every other business unable to generate revenue from stock tied up in transit) is feeling the strain, and I'm truly sorry for everyone affected by this. But we'll still be here when things return to normal, and we'll still be buying things. I remember when the first gasoline shortage hit us and a few local stations gouged us badly. No one in our neighborhood forgot about those owners - we never went back to them, and the two biggest offenders were out of business within months.
I can't complain about my reception on the phone when I called to inquire about product status at 3 months on the backorder. But an honest "we don't know, and we're as sorry and concerned as you are - we'll keep you updated as we get more information" would go a lot further than "there's nothing we can do". Of course, I stopped calling Musician's Friend to ask why they've run my credit card 7 or 8 times on this order because I got a different answer each time.

Yup, that's me. And I do agree that opening up the situation would not have done any harm - quite the opposite. Now the onus is on resellers, who obviously know exactly what Quilter cares to tell them.
In my cab work - albeit just a retirement hobby - I have developed some connections with certain speaker and amp manufacturers. Hence, I knew of the SuperBlocks beforehand and could drum them up a bit, actually without the faintest idea of how they would turn out. I used to be a communications pro. Quilter is in the middle of a slowly simmering, protracted crisis here; sticking the head under the wing is not my idea of crisis communications.Last edited by Gitterbug; 12-23-2021 at 04:10 PM.
