Contemplating the Fender Tonemaster amps to complement the Ibanez AF2000.
I can read the specs, but most of the video reviews are not from jazz players.
Either one is overkill for my studio usage, but I’ve grown tired of the little speakers in my THR10C, though otherwise recommend it to those looking for a desktop amp. Quilter are not yet readily available in the UK. So I’ve whittled it down to the Tonemaster Deluxe and Twin.
Your thoughts would be welcome. Warmth with depth and shimmer is what I’m seeking.

Rob, I cannot speak to the Tonemaster series, having never played one, but I did own a 1970 Twin Reverb and a 1975 Deluxe Reverb. While both had a fine jazz tone, I would have to say that the Twin was a bit warmer and fatter. Assuming the Tonemaster nails the classic tone of each, I would opt for the Twin.

Thank you, friend! Good to know your opinion born of experience.

I got to try both at our local Guitar Center, and the TM Twin is pretty much a Twin twin. It has the big, clean sound of the original, and it’s an amazing amp (especially at 32 pounds, given that my original BF weighed over 60). And you can dial down the output level to get tube crunch without hearing loss. The TM Deluxe is also great. But for the extra 10% or so in cost and only 4 pounds (if I remember the specs right), it’d be the TM Twin for me if I ever buy another big amp. If size is a consideration, the TM Deluxe is hard to beat.

Thanks, nshsi! Good to know. I’m sure I can clear space for it somehow!

You need some place where you can fix up a barn for a studio.

I've just paid for the Twin. No going back! Delivered Wednesday. Return possible, but not anticipated!
