Hey everybody, I'm considering buying this Levin 325. Could I get a price quote?
It has a small crack in the top that was supposed to have been expertly repaired.
Description:
- 18 ? body
- Hand-carved solid top (german spruce)
- Flamed maple back and sides
- Kolb tuners
- Dark rosewood fingerboard (brazilian?)
- One a long time ago professionally repaired crack and some tiny scratches on the top
- Mint new jescar-frets (same size as the originals)
- All electronics are checked and intonation is perfect
- Truss rod works well.
- Case handle is repaired and inside is covered with removable extra filling

There is no ‘price quote’ on such a rare Levin, but a 325 in good condition, and with working Dynasonics, is one of the more prized models. I’d expect a price somewhere between 2200-3000. Are you getting it from Halkan (who I’ve had good dealings with)?

It looks nice dunnit! Any idea what year?
Prices on well sorted arch top Levins have been rising but a fair price for that one I do not know.
Halkans and Tip Top Music in Stockholm have a few so check them out.

The team at Jam in Stockholm are also very helpful when it comes to Levins. JAM.se - Din musikaffär på nätet!

You have some good advice and excellent sources here. So it's up to the guitar itself. Prices seem to vary from 1.5 to 3Keur. Are you ready for a very high-radius (=almost flat) fingerboard? If yes, the pups alone make this guitar very desirable. It's of course feedback-prone but likely not worse than any other carved archtop of its kind. I listened to one a few weeks ago and it was just as good as any.

Thanks everyone. It's a 1950's Levin being sold by a professional jazz player. He's selling it for about 2.5k euros.
I'm very interested in the guitar, but I'm honestly kind of worried about the size. it comes out to almost 18 inches and I usually play 16 inch guitars.
Was really hoping to find a dearmond equipped 16.5 inch model, but they seem pretty hard to come by at a reasonable price and this guitar is quite nice. Tough decision.

Beautiful guitar, well proportioned with restrained and tasteful styling. I have always had a soft spot for Levin archtops since I had a chance to see and play them at a music sales exhibition in Copenhagen when I was 13 years old. It seems to be in fine condition too. The price doesn't scare me. Older archtops (especially those still in good condition) are expensive here in Scandinavia and there are not too many of them (still in Scandinavia).
