    Having owned both an X-500 and a X-170, the X-175's shape is a dead give away that it has more in common with the X-500 than an X-170. The latter has a very wide almost fat lower bout, and it's much thinner than a X-500.

    So you've never pulled your neck pup to examine if the X-175 is a laminate top? Trust me it is...as is the X-500. To the best of my limited knowledge the only jazz archtops produced with spruce tops were the more expensive X-700 and the Artist Award.

    Nope, never have. What I did was stick a mirror in there, trying to see what the underside of the top was. That didn't convince me. Thanks for the info...now I know it's laminated. It sounds great, too.

    And, now I know the X-170 and X-175 don't have similar bodies. Good info...thanks.
